TOURNAMENTSThere are two ways of handling a multiplier. Most machines apply it to a win, then reset it to zero. Gates of Olympus Dice does the opposite: during the extra rounds, every orb Zeus throws adds to those before it, and the counter never comes back down.
That single rule, inherited from Pragmatic Play's reel version, explains both the patience this title demands and the scale of what it can return. Here is how it works, what its figures are worth, and the kind of player it genuinely suits.
The Belgian adaptation keeps the presentation that made the original a success. Zeus watches over the grid from his throne, the purple sky rumbles in the background, and marble columns frame dice that have taken the gems' place.
The change is not merely cosmetic: moving to the dice format means recalculating the paytable and obtaining fresh certification from an approved body. The mechanics, though, were left untouched. Anyone who knows the reel version will feel at home straight away.
The grid runs six columns, and combinations follow no drawn lines. A win forms as soon as eight identical symbols appear anywhere, with no condition of position or alignment. That is what makes the cascades possible: each fall can reassemble a group elsewhere on the grid.
This system, common to modern dice slots, replaces traditional paylines with a logic of quantity.
The central mechanic has a name: the tumble.
The moment a line pays, the pieces that make it up evaporate. Others come tumbling down from above to take their place, and if that fresh arrangement pays in turn, the cycle starts again. It stops only when nothing more forms.
A single round can therefore string several together. That gives the title its distinctive rhythm: long stretches with nothing, then a cascade that runs away with itself.
This is the game's attraction, and its real subject.
Zeus throws orbs onto the grid at random, carrying multipliers from 2× to 500×. It is the studio hallmark, found in other forms across its remaining titles. They depend on no combination: their appearance is independent of everything else.
During the base game, a multiplier applies to that round's win and then disappears. If several orbs land at once, their values are added together before being applied — a single round can therefore bring two or three orbs into play.
During the extra rounds it is another story, and that is where the title finds its full dimension.
Four scatter symbols or more, anywhere on the grid, open the series.
Through those rounds, the orb multipliers add up and are never reset. A counter beside the grid tracks their combined value, which only climbs for as long as the series lasts.
Three further scatters along the way retrigger the feature and add five rounds. It is the combination of those two rules — the accumulation and the retrigger — that makes the big sessions possible.
Put another way: the value of a series is not decided on one spin but on its duration. A first retrigger turns an average series into a serious one; two retriggers change the scale altogether.
It also explains the wait between triggers. The game concentrates its potential in a feature that does not open often, and only counts in full when it lasts.
Three figures sum up how the game behaves over time.
The return rate on display reaches 96.5%. Against a hundred euros staked across a very large number of rounds, the game is calibrated to give back 96.50 of them — a figure few high-variance machines exceed.
The volatility is extreme. That is the point to hold on to before starting: the barren stretches can run long, and a budget needs to absorb them. A high return rate protects you in no way against an unfavourable run.
The maximum win reaches 5,000 times the stake. It is attainable solely through the accumulation of multipliers across a long series of extra rounds, never on an isolated spin.
Let us be straight about it: not every player will find what they want here.
This title suits someone willing to sit through stretches without a win to chase a rare but substantial result. Anyone who prefers steady returns will find mostly frustration — Sweet Bonanza Dice, from the same studio, plays precisely the opposite register with more frequent and more measured wins.
One simple rule helps frame a session: with extreme variance, you are better off lowering the stake and stretching the duration than the reverse. A hundred rounds at a small stake give far more chance of seeing the feature open than ten rounds at a heavy one, for the same budget.
Play money and a browser are enough to feel out the rhythm before anything real is at stake. On a game of extreme volatility, a few dozen rounds are not enough to judge: several hundred are needed to see a series come round.
No app required: a browser will do, on mobile as on tablet.
The interface reorganises around the grid, and above all the multiplier counter stays perfectly legible — a decisive detail when the whole session consists of watching it climb.
This title sits in the catalogue alongside the studio's other machines.
It has passed the checks imposed on every game available under Belgian licence: random number generator audited by an independent laboratory, return rate matching the actual setting, and a minimum age fixed at 21.
And if the series does eventually land, Casino King pays out by instant payout: the amount reaches your bank account within seconds, commission nil.
